Devil

Watched With: Mr Rider @ Cathay Cineleisure (19/09)
Snacks: Iced Lemon Tea
Genre: Horror / Suspense

Alamak how to take lift like that?

Detective Bowden (Chris Messina) is having another ordinary day until he is called to a case at a commercial building.

At first a suicide is the case but then he later finds that there is another situation abound.
There is an elevator stuck with 5 people in it.

Tony (Logan Marshall-Green), Vincent (Geoffrey Arend), Sarah (Bojana Novakovic), Jane (Jenny O'Hara) and Ben (Bokeem Woodbine) just seem to be 5 ordinary people caught in the wrong place at the wrong time.
But when strange things start happening and people in that elevator start dying, it appears that one of them may not be who they appear to be.

According to security guards Ramirez (Jacob Vargas) and Lustig (Matt Craven), the Devil himself is in that elevator...

Wah i tell you what.
This movie to me did to elevators what 'Jaws' did to swimming in the sea.
SUSPENSE TO THE MAXXXXX.

And even though somehow I managed to guess what the twist was, it was still quite a ride lah I tell you.
And i know it's THAT kinda movie cos I was kinda wary about taking the luft back up to my house at 4am after the movie ended.

MUST WATCH!!

Going The Distance

Watched With: My Snooqums @ Cathay Cineleisure (18/09)
Snacks: None

Genre: Romance / Comedy

Drew... *drool*

Garrett (Justin Long) is just your average guy.
Erin (Drew Barrymore) is just your average girl.

A chance encounter leads to love.
The problem? Erin is going to based in San Francisco pursuing her studies and also a job in journalism while Garrett is stuck in New York with his record company job.
Is long distance really the way to go?

What started out as just fun while she was in the city blossomed into love and now the couple must grapple with the hardships of a long distance relationship while dealing not only with each others' problems but also an array of other obstacles in the way.

Garrett has his 2 buddies Dan (Charlie Day) and Box (Jason Sudeikis) to deal with while Erin must consider her sister Corinne's (Christina Applegate) best intentions for her.

So can it really work like it does in the movies?

Well the highlights of this movie are
1) the chemistry of real-life couple Justin Long & Drew Barrymore.
2) Drew Barrymore is still hot as hell.
3) the dose of reality.

You'd expect this kinda movie to throw in a few twists here and there to make it interesting but I reckon this may be one of the more honest story-tellings in recent times where they don't rely on cheap tricks to make it interesting.

Well if you don't watch this one then maybe the DVD might be worth it.
And oh, make sure you watch it with someone you love in case you need a hug.

Haunted Changi

Watched With: Xiao Chen @ Cathay EHub (06/09)
Snacks: 100 Plus
Genre: Horror *shudder*

Ooooh. It's so scary. Not.

A production team of 4 set out to make a documentary about how the old Changi Hospital has a reputation of being haunted.
With its bloody history of war and death, it is little wonder that people are drawn to this relic of Singapore.

This is the original footage of their journey into OCH and how their pursuit of the truth eventually turned tragic.
With interviews with 'ordinary' Singaporeans and even a China national named Xiao Chen who is allegedly living there, the team learn more and more about OCH.

What the hell.
This movie sucked big time.
This was a cheap attempted rip-off of The Blair Witch Project to a certain extent and it's going to try and bank on the fact that it's made locally to earn the bucks.

And I'm all for supporting locally-made movies and all.
But for someone who is looking for a genuine horror then look elsewhere.
