Sucker Punch

Watched With: My Snooqums @ Cathay EHub (30/03)
Snacks: None
Genre: Sci-Fi / Fantasy

"Oh. And another thing."

Tragedy at home and Baby Doll (Emily Browning) is sent an asylum by her stepfather.
It is here that she escapes to a fantasy world to escape the harsh reality of her circumstances.

Together with Sweet Pea (Abbie Cornish), Rocket (Jena Malone), Blondie (Vanessa Hudgens) and Amber (Jamie Chung) and The Wise Man (Scott Glenn), they must fight off samurai, Nazis, dragons and impending doom to retrieve the 5 items needed to escape the evil clutches of the evil Blue Jones (Oscar Isaac) and mother-hen Vera Gorski (Carla Gugino).

Can they escape before The High Roller (Jon Hamm) comes to claim Baby Doll for himself?

Zack Snyder is a genius.
From 300 to Watchmen and now this.

A visual feast awaits in Sucker Punch.
This was one of the most visually stunning and captivating movies I've ever seen. Pairing the fantasy worlds with the fantasy girls.
How can you possibly go wrong.

Mystifying ideas of escapism and the fantasies that we run to in our darkest hours. That is what this movie is about. And it succeeds not only in snagging your attention but also keeps you in awe for the most part.

Yeah sure maybe some people won't really like it. But I'm sure everyone will agree it was a masterpiece for the eyes.

"Oh. And another thing."
The girls were hot.

World Invasion: Battle Los Angeles

Watched With: Nobody @ The Cathay (21/04)
Snacks: Cup Corn & Green Tea
Genre: Sci-Fi / Action

"Shit, I'd rather be in Afghanistan."

Staff Sgt. Michael Nantz (Aaron Eckhart) is calling it quits.
His demons are catching up with him and it's time to call and end to his tour of duty in the Marine Corps.

But before he can say 'Semper Fi', he is called into active duty.
As what seem like meteors start falling to the earth, he must join 2nd Lt. William Martinez (Ramon Rodriguez) and his platoon of Marines.
The meteors are not just meteors and the world is a battlefield.

It's up to the Marines including Sgt. Elena Santos (Michelle Rodriguez) to bring down the alien invaders and not only save civilians Joe Rincon (Michael Peña) and Michele (Bridget Moynahan) but unite so that they can prevent a worldwide takeover by aliens who are wiping out humankind.

I read a lot of reviews about this movie and most of them were negative.
And honestly, I don't know what the hell they were talking about.

If you like sci-fi. If you like war and the military. If you like adrenalin-pumping nail-biting action then watch this movie.
Maybe it's because the guys have served their NS or something but this will appeal more to the guys obviously. Makes us imagine that we're the Marines and we're able to relate to the movie to the training we've received.

Well overall this movie was not so bad.
Not really a very intellectual movie but hey once in awhile it's nice to have a shoot'em up where we just wanna see the good guys kill the bad guys.
