The Hurt Locker

Watched With: My Dad @ Cathay EHub (20/10)
Snacks: Coco-Cola
Genre: Drama / Action / War

"What's the best way to go about disarming one of these things?"
"The way you don't die, sir."

After explosives disposal specialist Sgt. Matt Thompson (Guy Pearce) is killed-in-action, his team Sgt. JT Sanborn (Anthony Mackie) and Spc. Owen Eldridge (Brian Geraghty) get a new team leader in the form of SSgt. William James (Jeremy Renner).

In comparison to his predecessor, SSgt. James appears more reckless choosing to dive straight into the action alone instead of exploring other options with his team much to their dismay and irritation.

As the number of days left in their tour of duty gets lesser and lesser, the three men face obstacles not only in the form of explosives and snipers, but also the challenge of surviving war and the harsh reality of life in the deserts of Jordan and Iraq.

Some people might find this movie a bit boring because of it's long running time of just over 2 hours but i figure it's neccessary.
This movie really gets you thinking. It makes you put yourself in the shoes of the characters and wonder if YOU could do what they do.

Showing the trials and tribulations faced by real-life soldiers serving in their units, one might feel a certain sympathy (and empathy) towards them.

Not a blockbuster. But definitely a worthy film.

The Ugly Truth

Watched With: My Snooqums @ GV VivoCity (29/09)
Snacks: None
Genre: Romance / Comedy

Abby Richter (Katherine Heigl) is a TV morning show producer who is facing the struggle of making the show seem more current in an age where viewers seem more interested in scandals and reality TV.
On top of that - she has a horrible love life where she actually makes notes on talking points for dates and run background checks.

Things get stirred up when her boss Stuart (Nick Searcy) hires a brash and controversial show host Mike Chadway (Gerard Butler) who dishes out the 'ugly truth' about relationships. At first Abby and Mike simply cannot get along.
But after Mike manages to spice things up starting with the morning anchors Larry (John Michael Higgins) and Georgia (Cheryl Hines), Abby realizes that Mike may actually know what he's talking about.

But after Abby gets Mike's help to try and snag her doctor neighbour Colin (Eric Winter), both of the realizes that there is more between them than they'd like to admit.

Okay so this is a pretty standard one.
All rom-coms are going to end the same way. Just that each one tries to have their own gimmick or rather to make it 'differen.
This one was no different. Maybe a little funny but not really.
So if you're going to watch this then it'd batter be as a couple because if not then it's really really going to suck watching alone or you're really sad.
