The Hurt Locker

Watched With: My Dad @ Cathay EHub (20/10)
Snacks: Coco-Cola
Genre: Drama / Action / War

"What's the best way to go about disarming one of these things?"
"The way you don't die, sir."

After explosives disposal specialist Sgt. Matt Thompson (Guy Pearce) is killed-in-action, his team Sgt. JT Sanborn (Anthony Mackie) and Spc. Owen Eldridge (Brian Geraghty) get a new team leader in the form of SSgt. William James (Jeremy Renner).

In comparison to his predecessor, SSgt. James appears more reckless choosing to dive straight into the action alone instead of exploring other options with his team much to their dismay and irritation.

As the number of days left in their tour of duty gets lesser and lesser, the three men face obstacles not only in the form of explosives and snipers, but also the challenge of surviving war and the harsh reality of life in the deserts of Jordan and Iraq.

Some people might find this movie a bit boring because of it's long running time of just over 2 hours but i figure it's neccessary.
This movie really gets you thinking. It makes you put yourself in the shoes of the characters and wonder if YOU could do what they do.

Showing the trials and tribulations faced by real-life soldiers serving in their units, one might feel a certain sympathy (and empathy) towards them.

Not a blockbuster. But definitely a worthy film.

Final Verdict:
