Robin Hood

"Rise and rise again. Until lambs become lions"
Or lions become lambs. Or something like that.

Robin Longstride (Russell Crowe) is an archer in King Richard the Lionheart's (Danny Huston) army alongside fellow soldiers Allan A'Dayle (Alan Doyle), Will Scarlet (Scott Grimes) and Little John (Kevin Durand).
The King's crusade is long and difficult as they fight for the glory of England.

Meanwhile back home, the king's mother Eleanor of Aquitaine (Eileen Atkins) must try and contain her other son Prince John's (Oscar Isaac) aspirations of the crown.
And with the King's advisors William Marshal (William Hurt) and Sir Godfrey (Mark Strong) influencing the decisions being made, things are looking very trying indeed.

So Robin and his men must travel back to England and their fates meet with Marion Loxley (Cate Blanchett) and her father-in-law Sir Walter Loxley (Max von Sydow) who seems to know more about Robin's past than even he does.

So will Robin be in the position to fight for the people and the glory of the kingdom of will the plotting and plans of Sir Godfrey prevail?

This was a good action movie and drama.
The plot was okay and the directing was fabulous as expected by Ridley Scott.
Lots of fighting and sure maybe they could have done with a bit more.
But i do not like the fact that they prefer to 'reinvent' classic characters.

First they tried (and failed) with Sherlock Holmes and now Robin Hood.
I mean.. the Sheriff of Nottingham has less screen time than Robin Hood's horse for goodness sake.
Even if it's an 'origin' story then do it properly.
Because we should all know that Robin Hood did not start out like this movies shows.

Ip Man 2

Watched With: My Dad & My Brother @ Cathay EHub (03/05)
Snacks: None
Genre: Action / Drama

*super fast hand movements*

Ip Man (Donnie Yen) has moved to Hong Kong with his wife Zhang Yong Cheng (Lynn Hung) after the end of the war and hopes to open a martial arts school where he can teach his beloved Wing Chun and earn a living for his family.

But there he encounters a lack of interest from the locals and also animosity from the local 'martial arts masters' headed by Hung Jan Nam (Sammo Hung).

To add to things, the local British police are a corrupt lot and Ip Man and his new disciple Wong Leung (Huang Xiaoming) must defend the name of Chinese martial arts against a British boxer Twister (Darren Shahlavi).

Sure Donnie Yen rocks and Sammo Jung is such a blast from the past (he's so old and the moustache doesn't help).
I guess the first movie was better not only because it was a more original concept but I guess in way the fighting in the first movie was better.

I vote for the DVD on this one people.

"I wont my bord"

6 months later and Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) is a superstar.
His revolutionary Iron Man suit has changed the face of world peace but Stark himself is still the same cocky arrogant billionaire.

But the use of the suit comes at a price as the Palladium he uses to keep him going is also what is slowly killing him.
And he is keeping all this from Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow), bodyguard Happy Hogan (Jon Favreau) & new employee Natalie Rushman (Scarlett Johansson).
Even his best friend Lt. Col. James 'Rhodey' Rhodes (Don Cheadle) is in the dark about it.

But when baddie Russian Ivan Vanko (Mickey Rourke) teams up with his rival Justin Hammer (Sam Rockwell), Stark better come up with a solution fast.
And it doesn't help that S.H.I.E.L.D chief Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) is on his back.

Well first of all let me say that the castings of Mickey Rourke and Sam Rockwell were just genius because they were the performances I enjoyed the most.
But I guess this movie was more boring compared to the rest.

Yeah sure Marvel is leading up the big Avengers movie but that's no reason to have so much talking. MORE ACTION PLEASE.
Plus you'll notice some parts from the trailer have gone missing.
Plus director Jon Favreau is an arsehole liar because I was waiting for The Mandarin. Where the hell was the Mandarin.

Well stay for after the credits in this one anyways.
