Robin Hood

Watched With: Nobody @ Cathay EHub (20/05)

Genre: Action / Drama

"Rise and rise again. Until lambs become lions"
Or lions become lambs. Or something like that.

Robin Longstride (Russell Crowe) is an archer in King Richard the Lionheart's (Danny Huston) army alongside fellow soldiers Allan A'Dayle (Alan Doyle), Will Scarlet (Scott Grimes) and Little John (Kevin Durand).
The King's crusade is long and difficult as they fight for the glory of England.

Meanwhile back home, the king's mother Eleanor of Aquitaine (Eileen Atkins) must try and contain her other son Prince John's (Oscar Isaac) aspirations of the crown.
And with the King's advisors William Marshal (William Hurt) and Sir Godfrey (Mark Strong) influencing the decisions being made, things are looking very trying indeed.

So Robin and his men must travel back to England and their fates meet with Marion Loxley (Cate Blanchett) and her father-in-law Sir Walter Loxley (Max von Sydow) who seems to know more about Robin's past than even he does.

So will Robin be in the position to fight for the people and the glory of the kingdom of will the plotting and plans of Sir Godfrey prevail?

This was a good action movie and drama.
The plot was okay and the directing was fabulous as expected by Ridley Scott.
Lots of fighting and sure maybe they could have done with a bit more.
But i do not like the fact that they prefer to 'reinvent' classic characters.

First they tried (and failed) with Sherlock Holmes and now Robin Hood.
I mean.. the Sheriff of Nottingham has less screen time than Robin Hood's horse for goodness sake.
Even if it's an 'origin' story then do it properly.
Because we should all know that Robin Hood did not start out like this movies shows.

Final Verdict:
