Watchmen

Genre: Cult / Mystery
Watched With: Miss Q @ GV Bishan (07/03)
Snacks: Cheesy Hot Dog & Green Tea

"God help us all. "

The year is 1985.
It is a time of masked heroes and nuclear war.
The Doomsday Clock has been set to 5 minutes before and nuclear confrontation with the Soviet Union seems likely.

Edward Blake/The Comedian (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) has just been murdered and a fellow former Watchmen member Rorschach (Jackie Earle Haley) believes there is more to his death than it seems.
Rorschach decides to warn his other former partners Dan Dreiberg/Nite Owl II (Patrick Wilson), Jon Osterman/Dr. Manhattan (Billy Crudup) and his girlfriend Laurie Jupiter/Silk Spectre II (Malin Akerman) & the world's smartest man Adrian Veidt/Ozymandias (Matthew Goode) that something is amiss.

What uncovers is a plot that seems to imply that there is more than meets the eye when it comes to politics and the even the law passed deeming masked heroes as vigilantes hence banning them from the streets.

Based on the 80s graphic novel of the same name, this ground-breaking masterpiece has been in the works for a major film release for more than a decade.

And as usual I'm going to be honest and say this is not going to be everyone's cup of tea.
People are probably expecting to see Wolverine tear up the baddies and Iron-Man to use his rockets or something like that.
But sorry to disappoint kiddos. Not that kind of superhero movie.
In fact the only characted with real superpowers is Dr Manhatta. The rest are regular humans with minor abilities like agility or strength who take it upon themselves to do good and watch over society.
"But who watches the watchmen?"

This story poses questions. Of what is right and what is wrong.
About humanity and how far would you go or expect others to go to keep it.

My advice is to read the graphic novel before watching.
It might help.

If I hadn't read the graphic novel I'd probably have given it 2 hot dogs overall cos it'd seem a bit confusing.
But since I read the graphic novel -

Final Verdict:
