Push

Genre: Sci-fi / Action

No no this is not a movie about giving birth.

Nick Gant (Chris Evans) is a very special boy. He is a telekinetic just like his father was. And ever since Nick Sr. was killed by The Division led by Agent Henry Carver (Djimon Hounsou) and his right-hand man Victor Budarin (Neil Jackson), Nick has been on the run.

But when another special girl Cassie Holmes (Dakota Fanning) whose mum has also been abducted by The Divison shows up and tell Nick that he has to help her save a girl, that's when the trouble starts.
The girl - Kira Hudson (Camilla Belle) - is the key to either saving the people with special abilities or destroying their chances of survival.

And on top of that throw in some obstacles like the hong Kong Mafia - The Pop Family - who also happen to have special abilties and you have a real problem.
But doesn't hurt to have some help from your friends namely Hook Waters (Cliff Curtis), Emily Hu (Ming-Na) & Pinky Stein (Nate Mooney).

One of the cool things about this movie I guess is the variety of special abilities that they have. And they're all serving a particular purpose and they have their own uniqueness about them.

We've got Movers (like Nick) who have telekinetic powers.
We've got Watchers (like Cassie) who can see the future.
We've got Pushers (like Agent Carver) who can manipulate your thoughts.
We've got Bleeders (like the Pop Family) who can scream so loud that your blood vessels burst.
We've got Shadows who can protect people or things by shielding them.
We've got Sniffers who can track people or things.
And we've got Stitches who can heal people and Wipers who can erase your memory.

Sounds like a lot to remember but don't worry the movie isn't that complicated. In fact the problem is that it's a bit too simple.
The visual imagery is nice and the whole superpower angle works really well if you ask me but after awhile you tend to get a bit bored because you know what's going to happen.

But overall not too bad. Quite worth the watch i reckon.
On DVD that is.

Final Verdict:
