Blood: The Last Vampire

Watched With: Nobody @ Cathay EHub (13/06)
Snacks: Mixed Nuts & Green Tea
Genre: Horror / Action

"I live for one purr-purse. And one purr-purse onn-li."

Oh wait.
This isn't the Hannah Montana movie. My bad.

Saya (Gianna Jun) is half-vampire and half-human.
It is her life's mission to avenge the death of her father and also the death of her guardian Kato Takatora (Yasuaki Kurata) at the hands of the oldest and most vile demon of them all - Onigen (Koyuki).
And with the help of a secret organization known as The Council who are also out to kill Onigen, Saya is well on her way to revenge.

She is placed by her handlers Michael (Liam Cunningham) and Luke (JJ Feild) at an army base school.
It is here that she meets Alice Mckee (Allison Miller), the daughter of base commander General Mckee (Larry Lamb). And after she saves Alice's life from some vampires, the two develop a trust and work together to get to Onigen.

So can Saya fulfill her life's purr-purse?

Well......... errrr.......
You know what guys? I'm just going to go ahead and say it.
This movies sucked. And I ain't talking about blood either.
(I knew I should have listened to my brother.)

This movie's based on the popular Japanese anime of the same name.
And I'm guessing it must be quite popular. But this movie simply does not much that worth complimenting.
Sure maybe some scenes were pretty stylishly choreographed but other than that it was pretty sucky (especially the painful slow-motion sequences).

I don't mind stupid movies. But at least a stupid movie I can enjoy.
Avoid at all costs guys. Unless you enjoy sucky movies.

State Of Play

Watched With: Nobody @ FilmGarde KLP (11/06)
Snacks: None
Genre: Political Drama / Thriller

Did anyone watch the original British mini-series?
I didn't.

Congressman Stephen Collins (Ben Affleck) is leading an investigation against PointCorp, a private military contractor. And on the morning of a conference, his lead resercher Sonia Baker (Maria Thayer) is killed.

Collins was having an affair with Sonia and approaches his street-smart college buddy because he thinks that she did not commit suicide and was killed.
Cal McAffrey (Russell Crowe) is a reporter for the Washington Globe newspaper and decides he'll check things out as a favour to an old friend whose wife Anne Collins (Robin Wright Penn) he also happens to be college friends with.

Together with rookie reporter Della Frye (Rachel McAdams) and newspaper head honcho Cameron Lynne (Helen Mirren), they uncover facts that point towards a political conspiracy.
And more and more innocent people are getting killed because of this cover-up which involves PointCorp, a senator George Fergus (Jeff Daniels), a PR rep and friend of Sonia's Dominic Foy (Jason Bateman) and mysterious shooter who seems to be cleaning up someone's mess.

Can McAffrey uncover the truth? Does he really want to?

This movie is based on the British 6-part miniseries of the same name and same storyline. But of course, in this American version they've squeezed all 6-parts into a 2 hour long movie.
So you can expect that you'll have to really pay attention to details else you might get lost in the many different characters involved.

But if you have no problems keeping up then this movie's pretty interesting to try and solve.

But after Christine rejects a loan extension from an ill and elderly woman Mrs Ganush (Lorna Raver) and causing a public scene at the branch, the elderly gypsy curses Christine.
Her boyfriend Clay Dalton (Justin Long) does not believe in such things even after psychic fortune teller Rham Jas (Dileep Rao) tells her that she is being haunted by a goat spirit called The Lamia and that in 3 days it will drag her soul to hell.

So can Christine avert the evil curse of the gypsy?
The Lamia is on its way to torment Christine and she only has 3 days to set things right if she can.

Anybody watch Evil Dead or Army of Darkness?
Does anyone appreciate Sam Raimi's brand of horror?
Well I do.

I tell you what people.
This is one scary movie. And i'm not talking about once-in-awhile jump out of your seat. I'm talking about jump out of your seat again and again and again.
And not only that. This movie is also pretty funny. Mostly lame. But funny.
Yeah sure it's pretty.. no wait.. scratch that. It's VERY predictable but it's still a very very enjoyable movie.

The only thing missing was the usual cameo by Bruce Campbell.

But I still really recommend you go watch this with someone.

Terminator Salvation

Genre: Action / Sci-Fi
Watched With: Mr Dopamine Dreamer @ The Cathay (30/05)
Mr Rider @ Cathay Cineleisure (14/06)
Snacks: None @ The Cathay

The year is 2018 and Skynet has become self-aware.

John Connor (Christian Bale) leads the resistance forces against the machines of Skynet who have not only grown in numbers but also in variations as well.
So with his wife Kate (Bryce Dallas Howard), allies Barnes (Common) and commander General Ashdown (Michael Ironside) among others, John must face up to the future his mother warned him about.

In the mean time, Marcus Wright (Sam Worthington) finds himself fighting against the machines despite a shocking truth - that he himself is one.
But despite this and John's doubts of Marcus' loyalties, Blair Williams (Moon Bloodgood) sees good in him.
And now that John has a new mission to protect Kyle Reese (Anton Yelchin) from termination, can Marcus be trusted?

Well if you're not a fan or you haven't watched the first few installments of the Terminator franchise then this'll just be another action movie for you.
McG does a pretty good job on this one (he's always been a good director lah) and spares no expense on the action sequences and definitely no shortage of explosions in this one bub.

Plus you'll see a lot of new machines in this one.
But like I said only if you're a fan then you'll probably enjoy it more. If not then the talking in between the action might bore because you'll just be thinking stuff like "Who the fuck is Sarah Connor?" and "What the hell is a T800?"

Well that's the end of this review.
But don't worry. I'll be back.
(I couldn't resist)
