The Rite

Watched With: Mr Porno @ The Cathay (12/02)

Genre: Drama / Horror

"I cast you OUT!!"

Michael Kovak (Colin O'Donoghue) is tired of his mundane life running his family's funeral parlour business with his father Istvan (Rutger Hauer) so he enrols in seminary school to become a priest.

When time comes for him to graduate, he decides that he does not wish to become a priest after all because he is lacking the faith that is required.
He is sent to Italy to attend a course in the Rites of Exorcism. And when the theory does not sit well with him, he is sent to see Father Lucas Trevant (Anthony Hopkins) who performs exorcism on a regular basis.

It is under Father Trevant that Michael realizes that the faith he so badly seeks is within himself.
So it is with reporter Angeline (Alice Braga) that Michael must face the obstacles posed not only by his lack of faith but also by supernatural powers that seek to corrupt the minds of mortal men.

Okay this is not a horror show. This is a drama.
As a horror show this sucks. As a drama it was okay.
Kinda draggy. The usual story of redemption and faith blah blah blah.

Why can't anyone make a proper exorcism movie anymore?

Final Verdict:
