The Last Airbender

Watched With: Mr Porno & Mr Rider @ Cathay Cineleisure (06/08)
Snacks: Crispy Chicken & Coke
Genre: Action / Adventure / Fantasy

It's official. I don't like 3D.

The world is made up of 4 tribes - The Earthbenders, The Waterbenders and the ruthless Firebenders who exterminated all of the Airbenders.

Waterbender brother and sister Sokka (Jackson Rathbone) and Katara (Nicola Peltz) stumble upon Aang (Noah Ringer) - the last Airbender - who just so happens to also be an all-powerful Avatar who can bend all the elements and bring balance to the world.

Exiled Firebender Prince Zuko (Dev Patel) is trying to get back into his father's, the King Fire Lord Ozai (Cliff Curtis), good graces by capturing the Avatar with the help of his doting uncle Iroh (Shaun Toub) while going up against his father's right hand Commander Zhao (Aasif Mandvi).

So can Aang and the rest stop the Firebenders from wreaking havoc on the world?

This is another one of those movies marketed as an adult movie but is actually meant for kids/teenagers.
A good clue - it was originally a cartoon.

Apart from that it was actually pretty boring most of the time.
The only thing I was impressed with was the direction and choreography of the fight/element bending scenes.
The special effects were pretty good during the element bending scenes but to be honest I didn't really care for the fact that the movie was in 3D.

Anyways this is gonna be another one of those franchises with a few movies.
(At least 3 by mr-porno's and my count).
So the DVD might be a good idea.

PS I was expecting Rusell Peters to turn up as one of the Firebenders.
But I guess not.
You'll know what I mean if you watch movie.

Final Verdict:
